The sun is up, school is out, and it’s time to get organized.
I know, I know, it’s not the most exciting summer vacation topic. But, having a sound plan is beneficial to you and your family and will ease some of those warm weather woes that come with this time of year.
In this article, we discuss five easy ways to keep your family organized this summer. So, continue reading and feel free to share any additional tips and tricks in the comments below.
5 Easy Ways to Keep Your Family Organized this Summer
1. Use a calendar
Whether you use the calendar on your phone, invest in a neat chalkboard calendar, or write out your own summer calendar, planning out your weeks is an excellent way to stay organized. Utilizing a calendar will help you keep track of appointments, events, days at camp, etc. Plan any vacations, and schedule chores for the kids too. However you decide to spend the season, a calendar is the best way to be prepared.

2. Move winter clothes to storage
Clutter creates extra stress you and your family certainly don’t need. Therefore, clear out as much closet space as possible at the beginning of the summer by moving winter clothes into storage. This way you’re not rummaging through sweaters to find bathing suits.
3. Get the kids more involved with chores
Without school and homework, most kids tend to have more time on their hands. So, during the summer months, have them help out more with chores. Try including them in dinner prep and clean up. Tasks like folding laundry, vacuuming, and dusting, not only keep them busy during downtime but will also help you tackle the tidying.
Consider keeping a chore chart for even more organization.
4. Plan meals for the week
Sharon from Mom of 6 says, “unless you want to hear the constant chorus of ‘Mom- what’s for dinner?’ every day while you rack your brain trying to think of something quick and easy to make- I highly encourage you to get into the habit of menu planning.”
She recommends simple dinners such as salads and easy BBQ. If you take 10 minutes to plan your meals out for the week, grocery shopping will go faster, and you’ll never have to think on your feet at dinner time.
5. Create ready-to-go bags
Use totes or bins to assemble some ready-to-go activity kits for impromptu trips to the beach, park, or wherever you spend your weekends. Keep snacks, bug repellant, goggles and swim caps, and travel games in these containers so when your kids decide it’s playtime, you’ve got everything you need to go.
