We felt it was necessary to put up a post about wire shelf clips. We receive many phone calls with questions, so we’re hoping that this helps you out. We’ve heard every name you can think of when referring to these elusive little black plastic clips. The technical name is split sleeve compression clips. It seems a lot of people lose them when moving. If this is the situation you are in trust us you are not alone. So what do you need to know before ordering these clips you ask?
It’s pretty simple. You need to know the diameter of your wire shelf posts. According to Dictionary.com the definition of diameter is the measure or length of a straight line as it passes through the middle of a round object. They say a picture says a thousand words so we think this diagram is much better than just giving you a definition
Our wire shelving uses clips that are 1.0″ in diameter. However, we also carry clips that are 3/4″ diameter. Typically the shelving units that use the 3/4″ diameter posts are for units that are not intended for commercial use. Simply put it is a a lighter duty shelf. Our 1.5″ diameter clips are typical for workbenches and those types of things. We hope this helps you pick the right size shelf clip you need the first time.
