We decided to use this post to feature our accessories that provide additional support to our wire shelving units.
Our shelving units are stable without any accessories. However, we receive many requests from people for accessories on the west coast who are prone to mother nature showing her muscles in the form of earth quakes, aftershocks or tremors.
Maybe you’re afraid of something knocking into your shelving unit (like your kid or a lawnmower). These accessories are also handy for any application where you would like that added strength.
Shelf Stability – Additional Accessories
First, you should put the heaviest items you plan to store on the bottom shelf. This is simple physics. The lower your center of gravity the harder it is to knock anything over. So, if you have heavy storage boxes or something of that nature if you put the heaviest items on the lowest shelf, you will have a stable unit.
1. Footplates
Footplates provide a broader foot and fasten directly to the floor to secure your wire shelving unit. They simply screw into the bottom of your shelving posts and will prevent your shelves from being knocked over.
2. Mounting Brackets
Mounting Brackets mount to the walls. They attach your wire shelf posts to the walls. With the correct fastener, these will attach right to your wall. If you can “catch a stud” on your wall that’s great.
3. Sided Frames
When you don’t want to put any holes in your nice floors or walls, use our three sided frames. They are excellent for this application. Available in chrome finish only.
4. Ledges
Shelf ledges easily attach to the sides, back or front of your wire shelving unit and prevent valuables from being knocked off the wire shelves. Keep in mind our wire shelves do have a 1/8″ lip so you may not even need ledges for standard storage applications. Our ledges are 4″ in
So depending on your needs, you have options for increasing the stability of your wire shelving. If you have any questions, contact us via the Live Chat or by calling 1-800-221-8665, and we will be happy to help you.
