There is often confusion in the differences of a wire shelving starter unit vs a wire shelving add on unit. This article should clarify and tell you all you need to know. There are both advantages and disadvantages of both. If you have more questions feel free to email us.
A starter unit is simply a freestanding unit with 4 legs and typically 4 shelves.
The picture above is a typical Starter Unit.
Add on units are used when you intend to utilize straight runs of 2 or more wire shelving units. You can also use add on units to configure ” L “shapes for corners or ” U ” shapes.
Add on units use 2 shelf posts and “s-hooks” that attach to your existing wire shelf starter unit. The S hooks replace 2 posts. S hooks sit on the shelf of the existing unit. The picture below is a 4 shelf add on unit.
